View Full Version : reencode server side ? maybe ?

I had a dream last day (yea i should stop dreaming of nsv i know...).

Imagine that server side, we could set a live encoder and set as incoming device : an existing nsv live stream !
This mean the server could re-encode the first incoming 200k stream to a 40k stream for modem users !
Or reencode the incoming vp6 to vp3 for mac users !
It could relay and reencode !

This mean with only 1 encoder client side, we would have on the server : 1 shoutcast, 1 nsvenc, and a 2nd shoutcast.
NSVenc/(200k)/Client -> Shoutcast1/200k/Serv -> NSVenc/200k to 50k/Serv -> Shoutcast2/50k/Serv

That would be so cool. The only question is how to set the encoder to take an already existing nsv stream as an input.

Do you think that is totally impossible to expect this in futur NSV projects, impossible to code for a programmer, and i should go back to sleep, or do you think its a good project idea ?

we could use a nsv r1pp3r (i dont kno if that word is ***'d out) to output to a live file, which is then sent through a nsvscsrc to the server...

Someone set it up for linux though, that's the only place its worthwhile. With windows, you can just use camtasia to capture the selected area, then have nsvcap stream it.

Edit: Ken, you make no sense...

Can nsvenc read NSVs? I remember trying it once without success.
