Photoshop by an overwhelming margin. I've used both, and Photoshop is clearly capable of doing more than Paintshop Pro can.

No comparison!
Use paintshop pro if you'd prefer to paint the Mona Lisa with crayons.
Use Photoshop if you want to excel at graphics.

PhotoShop vs. Paint Shop Pro Ahahahahaha God does not allow such a comparison to happen because PhotoShop will whip paint shop pro's faggot ass all the way back it it's originating code!
I really really like photoshop. I've used nothing else in my many years as a Professional Graphic Designer.

The GiMP all the way for people who want to legally use a powerful program without paying anything. Has its quirks, but works.

I'm so sad, I lost my Photoshop 7 in the great formatting of doom! Unless I can have a registry key, the backup I made won't work.
Poopie.
-_-
I can't edit anything, I can't scan anything, damn driver disc, DAMN THIS COMPUTER! I miss my photoshop!
/bitch
BTW, Photoshop kicks Pro's ass.
There's a reason why in the store, Adobe's is 999$ plus tax, and Pro is 150$.

I used Paintshop Pro once at a friend's, and I just didn't understand the program. I wouldn't pay any money for something with such bad usibility. Haven't used Photoshop yet, though.

$999 Canadian, right? It's $649 US on the Adobe site.
I've never tried PSP, but Photoshop has a tremendous reputation and I'm very fond of it.

Assuming you are buying it... PSP has one tremendous advantage: $69 price instead of $649 for Photoshop. And you can get PSP 7 for about $45 now.

I voted for Photoshop. I have Photoshop 7 on my laptop and Photoshop CS on my desktop. This is a bit of a piss-off: in Photoshop CS, when you save a .psd, it asks if you want "Maximize Compatibility" which increases quality and compatibility with future versions. Note, "future" versions. If I make something on my desktop, and I try to open it on my laptop, it's all fucktarded up. Mostly it's the layer sets, and all my meticulous organization goes kaput. I'll have to install CS on my laptop, which is a bit of a strain for it.
I used PSP years ago. It sucks.

I think it's 649 just for Photoshop; 999 for the suite.
