Guys I have a question. I just added another server to my stream. The fist one only supported 10 users, the second server supports 50. My question is.. The second server is configured to relay from the first but on the listings, only the first one appear and it shows 10 user max.

Eventhough if you click on it, it will take you to any available server (1 or 2).. how does this work? how does it know which server to connect to? and why is only 1 server listed and still showing 10 users max when in fact they should be 2 streams, one showing 10 users max and the other 50 users max?

Thx for the help!

Post a piece of log of the server that supports 50 users. Make sure that piece contains lines concerning contact with yp.shoutcast.com.

Oh and check the Shoutcast status page of that same machine to see if it says public or private.

<07/13/04@13:19:03> [yp_tch] new backup server 207.36.86.205:8002
<07/13/04@13:19:03> [yp_tch] yp.shoutcast.com touched!

Public both of them.

The feature about having only to contact the first server and then been redirected to whatever relay server has slots is very nice... but I would like to see updated the open slots on SC directory from 10 to 60.

Just in case.. the second server is:

Source: intruder.com.mx (relaying)[kick]

actually i've noticed this as well, but i've only noticed the second server say 'full, redirecting user to x' meaning the first server, which is the source. i dont know for sure if the source was redirecting to the second server as well but it's mighty curious.

Update!

Now I know where the missing list entry for server2 is....!

Since the stream is reported as audio/mpg becuase its a relay (eventhough en server1 its shown as video/nsv)..... well.... hehe... then server2 is not been listed on Internet TV but rather on Internet Radio!

Of course, if users try to click on it, they get an error cause it doesnt append the ;stream to the link on Internet Radio as opposed to the listings on Internet TV.

Seems this is a problems between yp and how DNAS and relays work.. am I right?

How can I correct this so both my streams servers will show on Internet TV?

Damn! you are probably right... server 1 is still 1.9.2 and server 2 is 1.9.4.. since server 1 is the main stream... :)

Ill give it a try right now.

Fixed. I know i'm right, 1.9.4 was created to fix the relay problems with 1.9.2 where relays would be listed as audio streams.

1 problem solved an another one comes in :(

Before I upgraded to 1.9.4 I ssaw on server 1's log that if full it would say "redirecting to server 2's ip" and server 2' logs would say if full "redirecting to server 1's ip".

Now, only server 2 said "new backup server (server 1's ip) and if full its redirecting users to server 1, but server 1 is not doing this, it is full right now and it hasnt redirected anybody to server 2 or said anything.

Anything wrong? does it take time to engage this or what do I do to enable clustering again?

nope, its because you upgraded, you cannot 'enable clustering' , nsv does not support clustering while mp3 does.

sorry, you're fucked, courtesy tom pepper and tag (well, more tom i think but i'm not sure) loomis.

Here's my suggestion. Downgrade the relay to 1.9.2, then run your current relay as the main stream and run the first server as the relay.

That way you get the 50 user list to register in the YP and with 50 users, it'll move up the list.

You still win only have 1 server in the list, but atleast the redirects will work like they were doing before.

Well..... surprisingly enough.... not all you mention was entirely true :)

After watching both server with 1.9.4 work for about 10 minutes I discovered that they were touched by yp and voila, they both appear on yp list as Video now.... but... 'lo and behold.... after a few more minutes... yo touched them again and said "new backup server XXX" on each other... so now, all traffic that comes to one server gets redirected to the other... but this didnt start to happen until they were touched for a second time from yp.

Seems yp is actually the one that controls this somehow and not the DNAS itself....

Can somebody from shoutcast explain more?

Ever server was complaining of been full until they got touched from yp again, then a message saying "new backup server XXXXX"

I guess if the relays are not configured as public and they dont get touched by yp, then this "clustering" would happen..

Any comments?

yes.

if you want to see why i say cluster, look at the top streams, by going to www.shoutcast.com and notice the big red "CLUSTER" word next to them.
