So I've had this scanner sitting around for about a year (I got it from my grandpa that never uses it), and now I want to use it. Problem is, I dont have the drivers/software for it because my grandpa had lost it (he had it sitting around for about a year before that).

Anyone know some "universal" scanner software? I just need to be able to scan basic stuff in... It doesnt really need to be too sensitive/include anything special.

Oh yea: I have a "visioneer One touch 5800 usb" scanner.

Search driverguide for that model.

I went to "driverguide.com" and I have to sign up for a membership and stuff to get the driver. I'll do it if I have to, but I'd rather keep my email adress as spam free as possible.

Well, I dont think the actual driver is really the problem (I think it's plug and play... sorry for misleading). I need the software that reads the information sent from the scanner.

...you think It'l have that?

You still need the driver, as you need the TWAIN stuff.

Have you contacted the manufacture?

No.

...I'll go sign up for the website I guess.

I guess this is a little late, but if you go to the manufactures website you can probably find the drivers there

If it's plug and play, and you have the driver, I think you can use a program as simple as MSPaint to scan in the image.

i'd be different if he wanted to scan text though.

No way he's scanning anything useful.

Regardless, you can always give a disposable mailinator (http://www.mailinator.com/) address to sign up.
