I recently installed Winamp 5.05 and with this version I'm not able to play ogm video files. However the file type doesn't even occure in the associations list.

After downgrading to 5.03 .ogm was in the list again and Winamp plays .ogm videos without problem (directshow filter is installed).

I didn't see any remarks to this topic in the changelist.

What's going on ?

Kind regards, Stephan

Mainly because you need to have the OggDS Filters installed for Winamp's DirectShow Decoder to play OGM.
Seeing as OggDS is neither installed on Windows by default nor included with the Winamp distro, it would be inaccurate to state that Winamp supports OGM out of the box.

Maybe I didn't make myself clear.
I have installed an Ogg DirectShow Filter ( http://tobias.everwicked.com/ ).

With 5.03 I was always able to play .ogg Videos.

Then I installed 5.05 over 5.03 and trying to play a video the result was... nothing.

Then I installed 5.03 over 5.05 and trying to play a video it worked perfectly.

I can repeat this as often as I want. 5.03 plays .ogg without any problems. 5.05 won't do it at all...

Maybe I didn't make myself clear either... :/

In 5.03, OGM was a listed supported extension in:
Prefs > Plugins > Input > DirectShow Decoder (in_dshow.dll) > config.
But it isn't in 5.05, so you have to manually add it !!!

I have Ogg and OGM added, but when I play the file, it comes out distorted, the upper half of the video will flow fine, but the lower half, its divided into squares and flows along poorly. Anyone have any suggestions?

OggDS (http://tobias.everwicked.com/). Windows has no native OGM support, you need the proper splitter to read OGM files, even in Winamp. As well as the proper filters to decode the video within the file, usualy DivX/XviD.

Grrr... you edited the your post. Do you know what video format is in the video?

Might try installing ffdshow (http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow) or a XviD Package (http://nic.dnsalias.com/).

Also, make sure your computer is not really fucking old.

I downloaded OggDS, and I have Divx/Xvid, 3ivx, and my computer is only two years old. I tried installing the program you mentioned, and it didnt fix it. all i said in my edited post was, "Do you just add OGM or OGG to the directshow listing? I used GSpot, and it said its a Ogg media stream.

I did add it, and have it selected in the file types option in the preferences too.

Might be a bad file or a bad system. No longer a Winamp issue.

Does it play ok in Windows Media Player?
If no, then it definitely isn't a Winamp issue
(as both WiMP and WA will be using the exact same OggDS filters to decode it).
