Ok I know this has been discussed a bunch of times and I have set up my station about five times sucessfully. Though its been a few months since I have had it working and now Im trying to set it up again.

Im not surprising I am getting this error, because Bit Torrent isnt working either on this computer.

I have done all the steps I think that need to be done..did I miss one?

1. Went into Linksys router set up page and forwarded ports 8000 to 8001 on local 192.168.1.105, where station will be running.
2. Set up station with that IP address and made sure its kept on the default 8000 port.
3. I do not have any third party firewall installed(i.e. Norton).
4. I do have Windows XP SP2 and I have made sure that firewall is completely shut off.

Am I missing something altogether? Is it something with the Windows firewall? Thanks to anyone who can say hey you forgot to do x or y!

Cheers, Chaser

hi!

Many have reported that after running SP2 things break- even if they open the firewall..

The suggestion that was given was to "go back" to a configuration/backup where it used to work..

I REFUSE to use XP so I don't know exactly what and how to instruct you beyond this point... Maybe soeone else here can pipe-in and tell you how to return to a previous backed up system configuration before you installed SP2.

I'd also agree with this one. Either use System Restore or Add/Remove Programs and uninstall SP2. It's a bigger pain in the ass for the minute bit of extra security you might get.

Instead use a firewall, antivirus and use an alternate browser like Firefox and you'll have better protection than you do with SP2.
