Well I sure hope somebody can help me. I have searched endlessly so if I missed something obvious please throw me a bone.

Basically here is my situation. I am a new shoutcast host with lots of bandwidth to spare. Currently I have two broadcasts that for some reason just will not change bitrate values. It is as if once they are set from the first start they can't be changed. No matter how many times I edit the .conf or restart the whole server or ./sc_serv.

I am on a Linux machine. Is there some sort of cache issue that I can't get past? The only thing close I can find related is the whole Yport issue.

As you can see here is the .conf Include:

Include=/xxxx/xx/shoutcastmichaelnguyen.conf
Unique=64k
PortBase=8942
LogFile=
W3CLog=sc_w3c-$.log

But look for yourself.

It clearly says 96k when it should be 64k.

You can only change the bitrate at the source point (Eg. Shoutcast DSP) you cannot set it in the config file or limit it using the DNAS.

Hmm...It has appeared to work with my other five customers. So far I only have seven and these two streams are being tricky...

If it can only be controlled at the source then how would a host limit a users bandwidth? Could people just steal or cheat?

yes and yes .. to stealing and cheating

alot of providers have scripts to monitor the bitrate of their custoemr to make sure they dont go over, some have bitrate locking on the servers so the source can only be a certain rate etc ... which is much more difficult.
