(CBS/AP) The judge in the Michael Jackson child-molestation case ruled Wednesday that arguments over whether the jury can hear evidence of prior sexual offenses by the singer will be held in open court.

The ruling by Superior Court Judge Rodney Melville was a victory for the news media and the prosecution, which both opposed a defense request to take up the matter behind closed doors.

"I was very pleased that the judge recognized the California Supreme Court ruling that hearings such as admission of evidence be held in open court," media attorney Theodore Boutrous Jr. said.

The judge said he will schedule the arguments after the jury is selected.

Jackson was not present Wednesday. The 46-year-old pop star is charged with plying a boy with alcohol and molesting him. Jury selection begins Jan. 31.

The thing is, had he not had all these operations, he would not be so unattractive, so he would perhaps had been able to get a real woman and so he would not be currently involved in paedophilia.

you can actually watch tv broadcasts from inside the court during sessions :eek: wow.....

I remember we had this murder case that was all over the public, with some guy who murdered his girlfriend and her two sons, and then put them through this machine that's usualy used to chop wood into tiny pieces for disposal....

he got 16 years prison (what we call lifetime) which is the maximum punishment around here, and allmost never used.

everyone wanted to see the trial, but all we can get here are painted pictures, that some dork sits and paints during sessions
