What are the differences between the old and new VBR routines in Winamp's LAME based encoder? I can't find anything on the LAME project's site. I'm only worried about quality.

I believe that the Old VBR is higher quality but slower and the New is faster but lower quality. If I am wrong, someone please correct me.

If you're worried about quality then use the --alt-presets
(--alt-preset standard = recommended)
