View Full Version : Saving Ratings in Media Library

I have all my MP3s on an external HDD and tend to move my MP3s around (especially when organizing it all). The problem now is that winamp loses everything in the media library whenever it loses track of the file. Like if I were to have my external HDD unplugged and winamp started up with rescan on.

I like the idea of removing songs that are 'dead', since I wouldn't want duplicate entries in the media library after moving a file somewhere else, but I don't like the idea of losing all my ratings once I move it.

Is there some plugin? some setting I'm missing that would enable me to save all my ratings? Really gets frustrating since it means I have to rebuild everything every time (happened 5 times already).

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Hey, thanks, I will try that... as soon as I rebuild my media library again.

I was loading up some mp3s from another computer on to my external HDD. I plug in the external HDD back into my normal computer and I see that the drive letter has changed from I: to M:.

Is there a way for me to change that drive letter back to I? I tried going in to winxp administrative tools but the drive letter I is not available.

The export to ID3v2 plugin: do I have to do this stuff manually every time I rate a song? There is no plugin/inherent ability for winamp to recognize a song and remember that I rated it something already? Like if a song had the same length, file size, and all id3 tags same with the only difference being where it is located?

There has to be some way right?

Please help, re-rating all the songs over and over gets boring real fast.

Thanks.
