Hi,

It may be a silly question. Sorry about that.

I'd like a friend of mine (only one and only her) to be able to listen to whatever I'm listening to in that very moment (we both have 24h broadband conexion to the internet, just in case).

My question is:
Should I install SHOUTcast in my computer and let my friend access someway over a password? Or may I just find out some solution over Skype, let's say? A halfway solution might be a program designed for this very purpose, but I have to admit I just couldn't find it over the Internet after some hours search.

I really think having SHOUTcast working for this matter may be like having a BMW to go to the supermarket round the corner, but...

To make it a little bit more 'interesting', I ran WinXP and this friend is on MacOS (I think 10). Just in case she may install some client software...

Thanx in advance for any help, suggestion or even solution ;-)

Yeah! ooops you read it wrongly :-)

But just to make it clear. The both connections are 256kbps, and they are 24 hours a day on.

That's it.

Thanks anyway for the replay,dj_bullet. Still, any clue?

Ya, you can limit it to just her IP address. Make it pulbic, then go into the admin.cgi and click Reserve IP.

Thanx kewldude606.

So I asume, after your answer, that SHOUTcast may be a good solution.

Thanx for the tip to limit it to one IP. But, in this case, any sugestion for dinamic IPs?

Any solution 'user' 'pwd'?

if you find that the RIP trick doesn't work you can broadcast with a user/pass protected stream by using Steamcast (http://www.steamcast.com/) or Icecast2 (http://www.icecast.org/).

Hi,

Thanx KXRM and the rest. Well, I'll give it a try to all three solutions you gave me. I'm happy you didn't sugest 'skype it!' :-)

Cause I don't wanna annoy you (time i time and that's enough!), you may considered this post closed if it's of no utility for anybody else.

Thanx again,
