Hi,

Is there a single company out there that allows you to start your stream from your own web site?

I am a small webcaster looking for licensing and hosting, and plan to play commercials. I can't afford to pay over $2000 for licensing though.

Thanks!

swcast lets you use your own website, they just forward it through theirs for legal reasons.

SESAC is substantially less expensive than BMI and ASCAP. But they are about three times the cost of SWCast. Although, their rates are reasonable.

1. You have to pay all four licensing agencies since so many artists use one of the thtee...unless you want to search and check each and every song you play to make sure you know who you have to pay and who you don't. These are ASCAP, BMI, SESAC and Soundexchange. It's a minimum of 2,750.00 and usually more.

SWCast is the only alternative of it's kind outside of Live365 and they aren't really an alternative unless you want them owning you, your station and listeners.

The last alternative is to group together with several stations and blanket license a domain and all share that domain for your stations lowering everyones costs.

I am aware of Live365 but from what I've read I don't like it either.

Can't please everybody. Bottom line is if you want more, you have to be willing to pay more, otherwise, I recommend sticking with SWCast and make the most of it.

Hello

I am a present SWCast customer and am really unhappy with the quality of service. This prompted me to start my own company,Loud City, based on the SWCast business model, with many improvements.

We are hoping to launch March 15th.

Please check us out @ http://www.loudcity.net

Thanks,

Brandon

Yeah the licesning agencies are insane, but that is their business, and since nobody in the webhosting community wants t o come together to lobby washington, Clearchannel and others will always be the ones to ensure our demise in 2005 and beyond.

Why should the web hosting community lobby for Internet radio?
