Premature? :weird:

It's been around for 3+ years, and was the first lossless codec to get hardware support (2 yrs ago), and is still the only one to have it. I use it because it's lossless, it's free, it's open source, it plays on all my devices, and if it "goes away" someday I can do a bit-perfect transcode to any other lossless format. And plus...Josh Coalson's a pretty cool guy. ;) (The creator of FLAC.)

In 1984, I had the entire Journey collection on LP, from their first self-titled album, up to Frontiers. Even including the (then) hard-to-find Look Into The Future and Next (albums #2 and #3). I was scoffed at in high school for being the only kid who liked Journey, but I never let it phase me.

And where's that precious collection of vinyl now? It was left with my second wife when we got divorced in 1997. (Not by "her taking it", but by my own stupid irresponsibility of just not going to get them.)

Anyway...for any old Journey fans who need to replace a lost collection but can't buy all the CD's right away, get the 3-CD set Time³.

It's got everything I liked the most by them except the song "La Do Da" (with the incredible 3-minute drum solo by Steve Smith). For that, I also bought Captured.

If I take the large amount of time to re-encode all my music (from the original CD source of course) to flac can I easily convert that flac to vorbis later on? Part Two: when will ogg flac be all up to snuff? I'd like to have the same "boxes" for my lossless and lossy :)

Same thing people do with aac. Besides you gots a lossless audio codec so reencoding it wouldn't result in a loss of quality :D

Quite true. I mis-stated that part. Thanks for the correction. :)

But a container format would still have to provide me with some advantages that I'd need in order to justify the time to implement it with my music files. I can't envision needing a change now, as all my needs are met for the moment, but who knows what I might find out I need in the future. ;)
