Yes there is something like peer 2 peer broadcasting, but I think it kinda sux.

So maybe here's an idea:

To save bandwidth for the broadcaser, whenever someone is tuning in with winamp, whatever bandwidth the client is using, the client will 'give back' the bandwidth by 'sending the broadcast through' to other clients...

Sort of like how torrent works...

The reason I thought of this is because of this way everyone can broadcast to unlimited amounts of people. The more people will listen to your broadcast, the more bandwitdth there will be...

I just thought this was an interesting thought (:p) and maybe usable in some way in shoutcast or something..

Or maybe not :D

Anyway, do with it what you want... Prolly a bad idea that some came up with already...

That is how all the p2p radio clients work.

Isn't that how all P2P systems work? Like on limewire when you download something it says like Downloading from X host(s).

unfortunately it doesn't work all that well, not everyone can upload what they download.

I am working on an alternative p2p stream protocol.

So, how are you getting around the firewall/router issue for the upstream? Just curious. I tried doing this myself & kept hitting my head with this one.

After I 'closed down' my little project, I did come up with some solutions but they were kludges & hacks and really didn't work all that well in concept.
