This sounds like a good advancement on the current line-in plugin. Instead of using the soundcard to output line-in straight through to line-out, with winamp sampling for vis, record the line-in into a buffer(so that you can have accurate vis, dsp effects on a line-in source or a CD drive which does not support ASPI, etc).
Doing this would give a delayed output (the VERY FEW proggys I've found which do this output sound about 50ms after it is recorded) but think this small con would be nothing against the pro's. Obviously, to use this you would need a full-duplex sound card, and have the output wave type identical to that of the input.

ok, ok, ones already been released...
it's just that I've been thinking for ages "why wouldn't anyone have done it". besides, it was only released a bit over a week ago... how should I know (shrugs). still reckon it should come as standard though, with a definable buffer length. (the plugin cannot play audio real-time on my 'puter) http://forums.winamp.com/ubb/frown.gif
