A feature I'd really like to see is for WinAmp to be able to check e-mail (pop3) accounts for new mail. When there's new mail, the current song could be interrupted, a user-defined mp3 should be played, after which normal play should resume.

It has always bothered me that my notification .wav doesn't play (using ICQ) when WinAmp is running.

God Damn it people!! where do you come up with these stupid ideas? POP checker in an mp3 player? Come on! Again, I protest, Winamp should do what it has always done best, play mp3s.

And the wav in ICQ dosen't play because Winamp is occupying the sound card, so it just gets ignored.

hmmm...interesting actually...would be good for mplayer...if winamp allowed other programs to access the sound card through half and half dithering (that's just what I call it...where two programs can use it at the same cpu usage or something) so you can listen to your mp3's and other people clicking on the talk button :O
Anyways, this would be better than stopping the song, playing a little wav file, then go back (well for one, easier to program) and it would cover a broader spectrum than just e-mail. My four cents worth http://forums.winamp.com/ubb/smile.gif

here is a good idea.. use direct sound and get a decent sound card (i use a Monster Sound II).. that'll allow you to play many sounds at once.. i believe the monster sound II can do 20 or so.. more than most people will ever need.
