News Input and other streaming options

Similar to things that Real Player and Media PLayer have (all copyright crap covered and said) I would like to see if streaming news would be allowed into WinAmp. I like hearing news from around the world and bluky programs like Real Player and Media player really take to much just to get streaming news. Currently, to my knowledge, WinAmp is limited to streaming from such sources such as ShoutCast broadcasts and the such. If there is, or are plans for, such a service as this (radio stations so to say) could someone let me know.

NOOOOO!!! Don't put that in there Justin. Thats the stupidest thing i have ever heard. Why would you want to read news from an mp3 player. The only reason that Real Player supports that is because its whole empire is based on streaming technology. Winamp's empire is based on shit on the hard-drive. PLZZZZ dont make Winamp BLOATWARE! It has everthing it needs now, besides a few cosmetic changes.

I believe there are some news stations for SHOUTcast... and if you want a real media news station you can use a plugin (there is a real good one under best plugins). If you are so determened to have news come to you in your winamp, you can visit slashdot.org* in the minibrowser.
