I recently tried to upload my skin "Kopernik". It went through the upload process as normal, and 'sort of' worked. That is, it went to the screen that normally comes after a successful upload, yet it had a few error messages plastered over the html as well.

The skin appeared in my "unpublished" skins, but then by the next day it disappeared from there altogether (not to be found in "published" nor in "unpublished").

So, I tried uploading again just now, but it tells me that there already exists a skin called "Kopernik". No doubt, this is a remnant of my previous unsuccessfull upload. Is there any way a moderator could delete that previous phantom skin? I kinda hope I can end up using the proper name of my skin :(

I can't delete it. I can push it "life" as is, and it will be published without files. (screenshots and wsz) after which you can update it.

OK, that sounds ok :)

Done. If the error messages apear again, you where not succesful and have to try again. (Do leave some time between attempts, please.)

OK, thanks Wally. I edited it, though it came up with some suspicious text again. That is, the 'success' screen came up, yet sprawled all over the top section of it was black text that was sort of like an html transcript of my skin description, if you know what I mean. Anyway, the skin is in my "published" section at the moment. I'll keep an eye on it and reupdate if necessary. Thanks again :)

It uploaded good this time and has been published, but there might be a problem with the overall rating. I would be unable to fix that, and if that happenned you might consider a new submission with a slightly different name.

(It could be a couple of hours before it shows up)

Oh, that's allright- I'll just leave it. It does have a 0 star rating though, which is a shame :( But I'd rather just keep the name. By the way, when you click to download it, it's a dead link. But all the skins seem to be having problems at the moment.

OK, it did not work. I'll check every hour on the hour for the opportunity to resubmit the files. If that opportunity presents itself I'll let you know. Next check in half an hour.

It's not just the Skins.... The plugins are Messed Up too..... I've seen this happen before... It took 2 weeks before anything could be downloaded again...

For what it's worth, I've just experienced the same upload error that StillWater describes. I was submitting a long-overdue bug fix for Cold-Pak (CID: 131587), and I got a server error report written over the top of the standard 'upload successful' page. The skin is currently in my unpublished list.

In that case, your upload did not work. Please try again.

StillWater

OK, well it's a couple of days later, and my skin is still at the top of the "most recent", and it still has 0 downloads, so I guess things aren't working properly at this point in time :^/

At the time of this post, a new upload should work. Don't give up, keep trying. :)

StillWater

Well, I've got 2 reviews already, yet still 0 downloads :D

So, what should I do, Wally? If I update, is that likely to work, and if you re-review the update, will the overall score be likely to be accurate this time?

/////well, I just updated it. Yet again, I got a HTML-esque version of my skin description plastered over the success screen.

I have had a very similar problem in the past week. What is the best way for me to fix this and get my skin into the queue for review?

Note: my skin has been showing "unpublished" as "TribalWar" for almost a week, and was originally called "TribalWar Companion Skin". I had to re-submit over several days and rename it to get it to "stick" as it were. It may be fine and waiting for approval, but the similarities to StillWater's experience make me wonder.

You should be able to "solve" it the same way he did... by trying again every once in a while until it works. This site has always been a bit buggy off and on, since I first joined.

@StillWater

Your skin is ok now, except for the overall rating. I have asked the "webmaster" if he could take a look at it.

@dwarfvader

Your skin seems to be ok and is waiting in the queue for a reviewer. Don't do a thing to upset it now, ok? ;)

@ Wally --
I dont know a thing about skinning but thought I would interrupt your forum for a very important announcement.

HI. I miss you and hope you are enjoying your new house.

OK, so it works, but the download count doesn't. I just tried downloading, and it worked - yet the download count is still 0. That's pretty annoying :(

StillWater
28th April 2005, 11:37
OK, well I think it's fair to say that the database is still pretty screwed:
-The skin can be downloaded, but my download count is forever at 0. C'mon - I'm male, I like numbers! :(
-I've got 8 reviews already, yet the overall rating doesn't move from 0 stars
-I tried downloading SummerBreeze again, and it still comes up with a Fubared screen.

wally, the same thing that happened to SW when he submitted just happened to me. what should i do?

Put your head in the sand and pretend it's not happening.

Seriously, I've given up with the database, it's so screwed it's barely worth looking at these days, I have a number of skins I'd like to resubmit, but I'm buggered if I'm gonna screw up all my submissions as a result of it.

And as for reviewing?, puh.........

k_rock923
29th April 2005, 16:08
Well, I tried the submission again and no error messages this time. We'll see what happens.

StillWater
30th April 2005, 08:28
I'm going to delete the skin and wait for a time when the database isn't so screwed. Is there any chance at all that I may be able to reclaim my original title? :(

mysterious_w
30th April 2005, 12:26
Well, I managed to download it when it was up. Good skin, I'm using it now.

StillWater
12th May 2005, 16:03
WooHoo! It's finally up there :) And the rating and downloads appear to be fine too. Apart from not being able to reuse the original title (which I don't really mind) the recent upload was a raging sucess :D

//By the way, I've fixed a very minute bug. So if you're the sort of person who is, like me, so anal that they get quite irritated at a header dead area being the wrong shade of blue, then you can download the new version :D

I don't blame you. That would probably drive me insane.
