Is the Default skin so good...?

I'm wondering why the skinning scene is so small these days. And im wondering why that is, is it because that the default skin is so good that no-one really requires a different skin? Is it because nullsoft got fired? Or is it that everyone is just busy or got bored with it and never cared about it...Or is it a different reason.

My opinion its the first, that the default skin is so well designed. It fits kind of the title, modern, but not too modern that people that are with the old winamp2.x style dont like it. It's easy to use and it uses all the features of the skinning engine very well.

What's your opinion?

It's way too slow and large for me, but it's good if you look at its features

The default skin is decent, but I doubt that has anything to do with the decline in skinning. I think few people are making skins because modern skins take so much longer to make, and classic skins just aren't as popular anymore.

personally, I lundged into modern skinning... I have no programming experience, but thanks t' winamp, I've thuroughly enjoyed making a good looking skin and trying to make it work how I like it, and forcing myself to learn the scripting parts that make a skin unique... The default skin is awesone, but just like my desktop.. i change the look every month or so. I too have noticed that there aren't too many modern skinners, but there's plenty of resources to help people like me learn, and create basic skins that are cool to look at.

I agree, modern skin take hell a lot of time to complete.

They can be cooler, but few of them are. Your skins are pretty cool, though. But a lot of modern skins are not as cool as classics :cool:

I may have to agree with that... My first classic skin sucked... but I had a lot of fun making it. I first used Ulead's picture editor so you could only imagine the trouble I began with... Thank god for Photoshop

Ever since Classix and Ashen nothing has given me any inspiration to spir me to do skins.

I think the default skin is a brilliant skin to learn how to put certain functions to your skin.

Its very professional looking but a bit too big for me.
