Add AGC to winamp

Add a digital AGC (automatic gain control) to WinAmp so that when using non-normalized MP3, the volume doesn't go crazy from song to song...

Yea that sounds like a great idea as many people are to lazy to normalize their MP3's when compressing them!!!

Yes, this is a good idea. I listen to winamp at work. I hate that I have to constantly adjust the volume... Some songs are too quiet, some too loud...

Thanx Ruiner for posting a reply on this idea, I going to try to bring this up to fifteen, Why u may ask, cause I love Winamp and have been using it for ages and would really like it if this feature was added as it would make playing my extensive list of MP3's much better. I also think that alot of people do not realize how great it could be.

Pay attention, gerry! If you weren't so busy wearing the letters off your Control and V keys, perhaps you would have discovered the "Audiostocker" plugin, which does exactly what you all are talking about here. Check it out, works like a champ.

Thankx a heap RokHopper for the advice, yea my Ctrl + V keys r a bit worn, but hey at least I got my prob solved.
ps. I still think that it should be put into the Winamp exe I actually hate using plugins, but I guess it will have to do for the mean time! THANX again!!

Hey HeadZeppelin I was looking all over the net for this plugin much like u and I finally found it at http://mp3stocker.tsx.org It works great (thanx again RokHopper) but I still think this should be a feature in Winamp, what do u think!

Ice, There is no Denial of Service 'Program' it's a State that you can invoke through Pogramming, the term 'hacker' is also used very loosly, not all hackers go around causing chaos and havoc, 80-90% of them are genuine hackers who's goals are to test their own limits on what they can do, if they are smart enough to do it, The other 10%-20% May have no Ethics or have an intent, Obviously there are no lamers, a Lamer isn't a hacker.
Therefore, Gerry, you are a Lamer.
1. Flaming will not get you the plug-in, if the Programmers can do it, I'm sure they will.

about the hacker stuff, you guys are right. but so many of the current "hackers" just use scripts and programs (not maid by them) to do their "hacks". go into a "hacker" chat room on irc. notice that none of them have any knowlede of any real computer skills. the best they can do is ctrl+k to make colors.

80-90%? thats crazy. i'd think 10% the rest are silly lamers.

AGC would be an excellent feature (it should be defeatable, however).
There is a plugin available at the winamp site but I ain't real crazy about it.

AGC could be one of the most useful features missing from Winamp. This should be on the top of the list for features to add.

You are not solving anything by sending 20 posts (if your just tuning in, i have deleted the flooding by gerry.) I am closing this because because it is not productive. I think that the guys at winamp allready know that there is allot of people that want AGC, and if they get around to it, it'll be added. Bashing me will not get you any new features, having a actual conversation will. Sorry for people that actaully wanted to post here, but i'm closing it.
