shoutcast source (plugin winamp)

i know this sounds odd but is there anyway of connecting to the shoutcast dnas server with out haveing to run winamp and it's plugin. something like a stand alone program

you see what we are doing just now is running the dnas server on a separate computer and playing the music on a second computer with the sound comeing into the server pc via the sound input on the soundcard. we have this working just fine.
want we want to do is run the dnas server and it's plugin with out haveing to run winamp. as this winamp is not doing anything. bar useing up system resorses.

i know theres away of running winamp + plugin on one pc and the server on the other and then connecting them. but after reading all the post's and read me's about this we can't make this work.

dnas server running on a 550 pentium 2
music playback from a 330 pentium 2

and that's the problem speed or the lack of it
with the dnas server and winamp + plugin (playing the music) and say 5 users the 550 pentium hit's 100% and lags like a good one !!! by running the music on a second pc the 550 pentium never get's above 30%

help is much needed
