View Full Version : WMA behaviour changed now in Winamp 5.092?

I noticed today that WMAs generally weren't quite behaving the way they were before in Winamp. For starters, they no longer display their running time in the playlist, and the other (and I was just wanting to see if it really would work as described on the forum before) is that it no longer pops up a "Switch to DirectSound/WaveOut" box if my Output plugin is different to what Winamp expects when playing a DRM'd WMA. Instead it just goes ahead and plays in DirectSound anyway! Eh?

Is this like a server-side change?

AMD Athlon XP 2000+
512Mb RAM
Windows XP SP2
Winamp 5.092

Cheers!

Not sure about "they no longer display their running time in the playlist", but yes, in_wm now has a built-in out_wave and out_ds specifically for use with drm-protected wma only. Internal out_wave is used if out_wave is the active output, otherwise it will default to internal out_ds. Non-protected wma files aren't affected.

The old pop-up message thing in 5.08e was just a quick & dirty temp workaround, to get Microsoft/Napster legal off our backs.

The only server-side change was the new drm licence acquisition, and the old licence was revoked.
