St. Louis (AP) -- Police in south St. Louis shot and killed a man they say was threatening them with a shotgun.
It happened at about 11 p.m. Sunday. Neighbors told police the man, Gary Johnston, 41, was standing naked in his yard and was breaking out the windows of his home.
When officers arrived, they discovered Johnston was acting irrationally and had destroyed the interior of his home, police said. Officers used a stun gun to try to subdue him, but the man got away, went to his bedroom and came out with a 12-gauge shotgun, police spokeswoman Schron Jackson said.
One of the officers tried to wrestle the gun away from the man.
Officers several times ordered the man to drop the weapon, police said. Another officer, fearing for the safety of his colleague and himself, shot the suspect several times, Jackson said.
Sounds like the crack got him.
Johnston was pronounced dead at the scene.
