I'm sure this has been ask before, but I was unable to find any info that helped me.

I've been streaming music for over a year now without any problems, but for the last week or so now, I am no longer able to stream. I'm running WinXP at work. When I click on a link in shoutcast, winamp opens and it tries to stream for a brief moment and that's it. And then it simply displays "shoutcast-playlist[2]" in the winamp screen.
I thought there might have been a firewall change but I checked with the person in the office next to me and they are able to stream without any problems.
I also upgraded my version of winamp and that doesn't make any difference.

Anyway, it's frustrating and I'm not sure what to do about it.

Regards,
John M

So you're not able to *receive* shoutcast stations?

If yes, I would make sure your office hasn't recently installed any "personal" firewall software too (Like XP Firewall turned back on, CyberSitter, Norton Internet Security etc)

You're on the right track - if the person next to you has no issues, it's probably not being blocked at the corporate firewall. It must be PC-based. You've tried multiple stations, I assume? If you can't get answers, hopefully someone will move this post for you to the Winamp Support forums... (This is Shoutcast Support - mostly for shoutcasters, not listeners)

I think that is a question for the WinAMP forum....

You are trying to "listen" to a stream, correct?

Maybe the station you' re trying to listen to is down? How many other stations did you try?

Are you trying to listen by clicking a bookmark in a browser or WinAMP? You should never bookmark the dynamic listen links in the shoutcast directory.

Okay, I have fixed the problem, and I'm embarassed to say that it was because I hadn't rebooted my work system in almost 3 weeks. hahahahaha!! How sad am I? It's even worse to say that I have been working Tech support for almost 4 years for web hosting servers flavored with FreeBSD and Solaris. So you would think I should be smarter than this, but not this time apparently.

Oh, and I almost forgot, thanks for your responses! And I'll be sure to use the correct thread if there is a next time. ;-)
