It doesn't seem to be a good film......

Firstly, there is a rule that all films based on video games automatically suck.

Secondly, Doom? was there really even a story there??

Thirdly, it's starring The Rock.

That's why I'm so shocked that it actually got a good review! I expected the review to say exactly what you just said, but it's apparently the "best game-to-film adaptation so far"! I'm sure it's not a great movie, but it sounds like it isn't a horrible failure like you, me, and everyone else in the world was expecting.

"best game-to-film adaptation so far" - that isn't a hard title to defeat. Especially because all it really needs is bigger guns and better CG rendering.

Just saw Doom a few hours ago. It wasn't all that bad. Not quite what I expected, but I liked it for the most part. And of course, I think Sarge from Q3 would have been a better Sarge for the part. ;) Also, I want a BFG! :D

And I found myself looking for my keyboard and mouse towards the end of the movie...

I knew you'd dig on the BFG:D
I was already waiting for your review on it too.
@dumbasses who review movies without seeing them.

Yeah, only thing that would have made it better would be life meter, ammo capacity, and armor guages on the movie screen. :D

I still wish it would have been more supernatural like the game rather than DNA huggallaboo.

Next, they need to release Quake...

If Halo sucks, I'm gouging my eyes out.

I'm hesitantly awaiting John Woo's rendition of Metroid... if he makes it. If so, he'd better not fuck it up, or I'll personally vaporize his ass with a Plasma Beam.

The guy can direct the hell out of an action flick. The last half hour of the Hulk was awesome but unfortunately it got bogged down in crap from the start.

John Woo didn't direct Hulk, you are thinking of Ang Lee of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon fame

Haha I wish this anywhere near decent. Anyone remember the Mario movie with John Leguizamo? I can honestly say that was the wierdest movie I ever had the pleasure of watching.

I like the Mario movie. It's not "good," really, but I like it.

How did I get the action director mixed up with the Brokeback guy?

Movie owned. I loved the part towards the end where they did the sorta in-game scene. Brilliant.

I watched Doom last week and I think I liked it. :)

(don't laugh)

I recently (as in few months ago, I'm not a game type of person) bought the game too and it scared the shit out of me. I wanted to give it a try due to all the fuss I saw on the net. And I must say that I understand it all now. :D

Anyway, back on topic, I expected the movie to be a bit more scary and a bit less agressive. Although it was an average movie with average acting, imho. Not a punishment to watch.

It was also fun to see a first person shooter scene in the movie. I wouldn't mind if they started to use that more in hollywood. :)

I'd say 7/10.

DOOM was very good. The movie doesn't linger too long on relationships and dialogue. It uses a space of about two minutes to introduce the characters then spends the rest of the film dismantling them one by one. Definitely one can watch !!!

there is no idea in it, same tipical american movie the good guys take over the bad guys, and they go in pease...

 I liked the movie, it had some good action, effects, and such despite the fact that the events were not exactly like in the game.

Oh, and for those who don't understand the ending, what happened was that John got to take his sister home and talk about all the stuff they missed out on by not talking much to each other while growing up after their parents accident.

In other words their relationship with each other improves. They have one of those 'happy ever after' endings almost except for the fact that the person Sam liked, Duke, died.

Only making the events exactly like the game could have made that movie shittier. (Not saying the game sucks, of course;))
