Since i saw that the source code for Milkdrop has been released i was hoping if any developer here or perhaps Rovastar himself would be interested in porting Milkdrop to QCD (Quintessential Media Player: www.quinnware.com). It would be greatly appreciated by me and the quintessential community. So far only gforce and whitecap have officially been ported to QCD. Milkdrop has always been my favourite visual so if i could use it with my favourite media player that'll be really cool. I'm sorry if this has been requested before, but i couldnt find anything. Please let me know if it is possible or not. Thanks!

your asking, in a competitors forum, for a competitor to give your player an edge...
at least XBMC had the decency to do it themselfs

I have no plans to. Hell, I haven't even done anything of the current betas yet.:)
tbh MilkDrop is first and foremost used with Winamp. I am surprised they released it fully open source. If I was the 'man in charge' I would have released the source and make usage of it for Winamp use only - so Winamp gets more exposure and reward for them investing in visualizations.
Also on another note it is a complete pain to have a working visualization for multiple players. I would want to release a vis for too many media players. I would not do what Andy O'Meara did for G-Force and release it for 15 players. Everytime a new build of any of those players comes out a feature or something may break and people will bitch and moan. And supporting so many players would mean people will be bitching and moaning all the time. And to get the same version working in all of them you will have to make compromises and functionality will be reduced and ultimately the overall quality of the optimum running of the plugin to cater for niche and underground player with little market share.

Well, that's then too bad. It was worth a shot. A long one at that. Thanks for replying though.

if libvisual is what I think it is (homepage is currently broken) http://libvisual.sf.net, then maybe it would be a good idea to port milkdrop to it, in order to allow it to run on other players, without the issues Rovastar mentioned.
_IF_ libvisual is what I think it is that is...
But it sounds like it's a 'standard' library for vis plugins, and Beep Media Player is gonna use it for vis plugins in BMPx.
So if it works the way I think it does, it means any player add support for libvisual, and then automatically any plugin created for libvisual will work..
Sounds good to me, if it could be done that is.
