Loading my main MP3 folder takes FOREVER

When winamp tries to read all of the MP3s in my main MP3 folder (only about 85) the mouse pointer changes to hourglass mode and it takes at least two minutes before it lets me select a song to open in winamp. If I try to open folders with less songs in them (like 10) there is no delay. I've reinstalled twice. what gives?

go to preferences -- options and make sure you have winamp set to read titles on demand, and not to sort files on load. both of these options will seriously tax a slower system.

are you using a playlist or just sending 85 files to winamp ? If not using a playlist, try using it, as it saves time by storing ID3 tags.
