Winamp/dows crash on Audio CD play

It's strange, but when I try to play an audio CD through Winamp, the whole puter goes whammy, and my CD-player keeps on playing sound as if nothing happened.
I first thought it was an MSCDEX problem, but my dad has the same CD-ROM configuration (even the same type cd-player) but he plays loud and clear.

I have the same problem on win2k.
I don't know what to do.I have a SCSI cd player
