I tried to download a .wav file from a website and when attempting to play it from Winamp I get a "Can't find destination format" error. I am using WINNT 4.0 and the latest Winamp standard install.
Has anyone seen this error and know how to fix it? The file plays fine with Windows Media player and on other people's Winamp 2.62 installs. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Winamp and it doesn't seem to matter. I know this worked with Winamp 2.61, but after the latest install something "broke".
This is driving me crazy! Any help would be appreciated.

Hello,
It happend the same to me just after I install Windows media player 6.4 for windows NT. I starting to hate Microsoft, it is not the first time happend to me, the first time was with nestcape after install Explorer 5.0.
If some one know how to fix it, please let me know, I cannot listen my .wav files. I'm also getting crazy.

I JUST RECENTLY REFORMATTED MY SYSTEM, PRIOR TO THAT I HAD WINAMP INSTALLED AND PLAYED WAV FILES WITH NO PROBLEMS, NOW I HAVE THE SAME ERROR, AND THE FUNNY THING IS THAT SOME WAVS PLAY AND SOME DON'T. THE ONES THAT WON'T PLAY WORKED FINE BEFORE THE FORMAT. I'M RUNNING WIN98SE NOW WITH LATEST VERSION OF WINAMP. I ALSO INSTALLED THE OLDER WIMP AMP AND STILL GET THE SAME MESS. CAN ANY ONE HELP.

Where did you get the files that don't work?

I had the same problem after I had to reformat my hard drive. but I finally managed to find a solution, I went to the following site
http://members.***********/~realnetworkhater/mp3codec.zip?1
after downloading this file it unzipped creating 2 files, 1 text file and 1 exe file
the exe file is a MP3 layer-3 ACM decoder, after running this file all my wav files are running OK and no further Destination error messages.
Hope this helps
