Whenever I try to download a *.exe file from the Web (Netscape), Winamp thinks it's music and tries to play it.
Any suggestions on how to stop this?

File association problems most likely...I would tell you how to toy around with it, but you might harm your computer more than do good...maybe someone with more experience could explain to you better how it's done? Sorry I couldnt help you http://forums.winamp.com/ubb/eek.gif

I have the same problem. The way I worked around it was this.
In Netscape
- Edit-Preferences-Navigator-Applications
Look for entries for Winamp. One of them will have a "File Type Details" like this:
application/x-winamp? (I did not write it down before changing the setting), but it's the only one with the "application/x-".
Once found, click on edit then change settings to reflect these entries.
In the Mime Type box enter: application/x-msdownload
Uncheck the "Use this mime as the..." box.
In the "Handle by" section, check "Save to disk"
After a re-install (upgrade) of Winamp, this association seems to come back.
I am lurking here to find a permanent answer.

!!!!!!!WARNING!!!!!!!!
Disregard previous post. I goofed. I changed two setting at the same time and Netscape crashed. The application/x-winmap? should have read application/x-winamp-plugin and it should stay as it is. DO NOT CHANHGE THAT SETTING. The one to change is:
In Netscape
- Edit-Preferences-Navigator-Applications
Look for entries for Winamp. One of them will have a "File Type Details" like this:
MIME Type = application/x-msdownload. Handled By = Program
Once found, click on edit then change settings to reflect this entry.
In the "Handle by" section, check "Save to disk"
I am still lurking here to find a permanent solution.
