Hi All,
I have a big problem, I downloaded a plugin (CDA2WAV) which was packaged with the PIMP installer. However, it silently overwrites just one, single, critical systemfile (CDFS.VXD). According to the docs this is the intention, BUT!!!
A) it's not a plugin but simply a modified devicedriver from MS to read WAV directly from audiocd
B) it sends WinAMP in an endless loop trying to read the titles for every wav type quality (from 11000-44000kHz, from 8-16bit, from mono to stereo) that suddenly is now visible when you play yer fav CD, resulting in BSODs after a a couple of seconds.
C) there's now way back...and now I'm stuck with a CD-Rom that is listed as removeable, and every CD I insert, I get the message 'This disk is not formatted'...oh, an according to my devicemanager, the cd ain't removeable...
The bugpart is that WinAMP should not try to recurse subfolders when an AudioCD is inserted that turns out to contain folders. since that is now causing my system to crap out after winamp has read a couple of dozen quality variations for each of the tracks
I tried restoring original functionality by replacing the CDFS.VXD with it's original from my WinCD, but now my pc reboots spontaneously every time I insert an audio cd...
My advice, avoid CDA2WAV like the plague (it's even superfluous since WinAMP writes WAVs directly...) The person that posted the plugin even adviced on getting Justin's MP3writer plugin (well I got myself that one too...funny since it can't write s*t for me coz it depends on an external codec...
meanwhile I can't use my CD...any help?
FWIW
