View Full Version : Obvious advise for the lesser-inclined (lock-ups)

I, like so many people in this fast paced world, am a newby to the Mp3 concept, and am rather interested in venturing into this new realm. However, I have some problems that need addressing, and although I may be being *rude* by not reading every other post covering this topic, I shall continue anyway.

WinAmp 2.64 (the only Winamp version i have downloaded thus far), for me, appears to be in perfect working order until it randomly crashes whenever I play anything- midi file (no laughing), mp3, wave, or whatever. I see no definite pattern in the lock-ups except that they all happen whenever I play something in winamp. Can anyone give me suggestions as to what I can do? I would be most appreciative.

Most sincerely,
D.S. Roark

(gee, maybe if Reverend Heat joins in, we could have an all-holy thread) ...

SacredOne - If you could provide some background info, such as platform, processor speed, amount of RAM, anything else you can think of - as well as indicate whether you are running any other programs simultaneously - you might be able to provide enough clues for one of the fine people who frequent this forum to be able to help you out.

Also, since this is a very nonspecific problem, it might not be truly regarded as a "bug" and your question might be better placed in the "Technical Support - General" forum - but that's a determination for the moderators to make ...

Ok, here goes: Pentium 2, ~300 mghz, 64 megs, and a Master Riptide Audio sound card.

Winamp crashes whenever I run other programs simultaneously and it crashes at the end of tracks

No input to solving your problem, however, I'm seeing a consistent lockup on playing MP3s with winamp and musicmatch, with the same audio card (Riptide PCI).

I've got a call into HP tech support. I'll let you know what I find out.
