View Full Version : Proper Naming, Showing URL, Standards?

Hello,

I'm wondering on how to properly name my music files. It seems that Winamp and iTunes only show certain song information for streams... but not everything. How should I name files? Like this?

"Artist - Song"

Or... should I include album?

"Artist - Album - Song"

Also, I notice that Digitally Imported is able to get their URL to show up where the song info goes, coming in and out. Know anything about this?

Thanks for any help that you can hopefully provide.

the filenames dont make a difference since shoutcast pulls the info from the embedded id3 tags.

Album doesn't get streamed by shoutcast. Just artist -- title ..

The WinAMP MPEG Audio Decoder input plugin determines what ID tag info is displayed (defaults to "%1 - %2" [artist - title]) -- this setting is also applied to what the DSP sends to your DNAS.

In the absence of ID tags (but not generically filled out ones that exist), it will display the MP3 filename, without the .mp3 etxtension (%7).

When both IDv3.1 and IDv3.2 tags exist, the IDv3.2 tags are used.
