I was still using a 5.0 something version and decided to download the latest. I did have a tough time with the "corrupt installer" error, but managed to get rid of that by following steps in another thread. Winamp seems to have installed fine, even keeping the couple of additional plugins, (like iPod support) that I previously had.

I have a paid for version of Pro and have the original info from last June including the Key. I was not asked for the Key during the install of this latest version even though the download link said I would be. Is that an indication of something going wrong with the install? Or was the download link incorrect and this new version picked up my
Key from the previous installation?

Thanks.

if you downloaded the pro installer and the pro registration is correct then you won't be prompted. the only time the pro install should prompt you is if the pro key is not there. also in general the install should not touch any existing plugins, etc if you're doing a normal upgrade ie installing over the top of a previous/current install of winamp.

I have sent at least two e-mails to customer service/ tech support regarding my problem: I bought WinAmp Pro and installed it successfully a year or so ago. I began being bugged to upgrade every time I started (bought and paid for) WinAmp Pro. The only way I could stop the incessant badgering to upgrade was to, you guessed it, download and install the upgrade. Problem is after that I tried to use a WinAmp Pro feature I was told I needed to purchase WinAmp Pro. I tried to re-install my bought and paid for version and when I entered the key I was told it is an invalid key. Little Help Here? I do not have my order number but I do have the key, and my name, to prove I bought WinAmp Pro. Anybody I can talk to to get me back to my bought and paid for version without being badgered?

Thx

Winamp > Prefs > General Preferences:
Uncheck "check for new versions at startup"

As for the registering problem... only customer service (http://www.winamp.com/support/) can help you with that one. Have they not even replied yet?

All I can say is that I've personally upgraded every time from 5.0 right through to 5.12 and my registered key has always been valid, ie. i've never had to re-enter it. Are you sure you're entering the exact name and key correctly (via: Winamp > Prefs > Winamp Pro)? Just one little typo will mess it up.

Other than that, digitalriver/customer support should respond eventually (maybe they're only just getting back to work after the holiday period, and seeing as they handle many more programs than just winamp, maybe they've got a fair bit of catching up to do), but as long as you've provided them with your reg key and name, then I'm sure they'll also come up with a solution or a new key for you.
