when trying to play most wav files. My operating system is Windows 2000 and wav files worked fine before loading Winamp 2.6.2 and Windows Media Player 6.4.
Now when I go to control panel, sounds and multimedia, I cannot even play most wav files using that cheesy play/stop button.
I don't want to rebuild my system over this... there should be a simple solution to this.

I have the hook-up!
I have found that it does work for
Windows 2000.
It also works for
Windows 95 (3 of the 4 versions)
Windows 98 / 98 SE / NT
Works for most WinAmps 2.**
Check out http://members.aol.com/networldb/winampfix.html There is a verified fix there. It worked for me.
