That could be because of a plugin you've installed.

Try moving all .dll files from your winamp\plugins directory. After that copy one file at a time and start winamp after each file is copied to isolate the problem (if that is the problem)

I had the same problem, and did what you said. It turned out to be a plug-in bug! In my case it was the: ces widamp plugin v0.9 (x86) [in_vid.dll] that caused the bug...
Thanx alot http://forums.winamp.com/ubb/wink.gif

i've had this bug a couple of times. i thought at first it was because of the DFX plugin at first (removed it once and winamp didn't crash when it was quit), but then i realized that it wasn't dfx.

man i'm tired. i solved the problem last night by uninstalling winamp and then reinstalling the latest version. reinstalled dfx and guess what? no more crashes.

software is like a constant guessing game of PMS sometimes. ugh. anyhow, yeah. save your skins before you uninstall winamp. dont save your plugins, just install new copies.

I have the same "OleMainThreadWndName" titled problem with all the Winamp 2.6x series. So, I re-installed them many times, but the problem remains the same. Sometimes it entirely crashes my computer, inspite of Norton Crashguard.
I use a Hungarian language Win98 and
I have a PIII-450 + Abit BE6-2 + Diamond MX300 + Matrox G400 machine, please tell us a solution, guys !

Well before assuming it is a particular program (in ths case winamp), assure to disable all 3rd party plugins. I had found than many of them are poorly written and eventually exhaust all resources and things become unstable.
Uninstall Winamp. Delete the original directory since it will still remain because 3rd party plugins are installed, then just reinstall the latest Version of Winamp without any plugins, and try it like that. I have various versions installed on various machines from various brand laptops, to desktops and even on some servers (shhhh), running Win98,Win95 and some NT, and I haven't had a problem.

I have this same problem as the first poster in this thread, and I can reproduce it:

This always happens when turning off Winamp while and MP3 is still playing. When I shutdown Winamp when nothing is playing there is no error.

My settings are the folowing:
Standard (2 meg) Winamp version, installed without the AOL icon and without the visualisation stuff. I turned off Winamp Agent. I have only one plugin running, and that is the systray control buttons. The output is the standard WAV output, with no changes.

I have an Asus A7V motherboard, 96 megs of RAM (DIMM, 100), Athlon 700MHz CPU and a Creative Soundblaster 128 PCI.

I suspect that it may have to do with the streaming which was rescently changed a little. I'm not sure though.

Tried clean install and then checked plugins by means of copying them back one by one. Had a faulty DLL, even though I did not use that plug-in.

Works fine now.

NightWing -

If you check back again, maybe you could post the name of that faulty plugin DLL and possibly save someone else a little grief.
