I hope this is the right forum to ask.
I use the gen msn plugin to show the song I'm currently listining with Winamp in MSN messenger.
I tried to create an advanced title format which should show the word "album unknown" if the album isn't filled in in the ID3 tag.
I tried some commands, but it doesn't work.
Does someone knows which command I should use??
Thanks

$if2(%album%,album unknown)
Should do the trick. :)

You'll probably need to turn of metadata guessing, or Winamp will take the folder name when the album field is empty:
Prefs (Ctrl+P) > Media Library > tab Watch Folders > click 'Configure' button > select 'No guessing'

it worked fine for a while, but now it isn't showing the correct album. It gives CD1 even while I filled in the album tag with, as example, Thunderdome 2005 CD1.
CD1 is the name of the directory where I saved the files
It gives by every song the name of directory instead of the album name.
I disabled metadatabase quessing.

It doesn't display the correct tags for some music
Toaster reads its meta data through Winamp using the standard get_extended_info mechanism and through the media library. The input plugin you are using must support this for Toaster to display the correct information. Ideally, the media library should also be enabled to get the most out of Toaster.

What does this mean??
I upgraded to version 5.13 today, but it also didn't worked anymore in 5.12
Does someone knows how to resolve this problem??

Did you install any 3rd-party plugins? Especially input plugins like mp3pro (if so, read this) (http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=161361#mp3pro).

If that's not it...

Are your files in the Media Library?
If so, is the info in the ML database correct?

Maybe your files were imported when you still had a guessing method selected and the info in ML is now wrong.
In that case you will need to remove your files from the Media Library (and optionally, import them again).

You can also try unchecking this option:
Prefs (Ctrl+P) > Media Library > tab Library Options > click 'Modify Settings' button > 'Use Library title information for Playlist Item Formatting'

Why use the media library anyway? To tell the truth I've settled for winamp after trying various media players for years. When winamp came with the video option I dropped everything else... and STILL I don't find the use for a media library, I partitioned my hard disk, a whole section is dedicated to mp3s' and I don't bug myself with problems. ;) Am I the only one who does this?? :weird:

I use the media library for searching songs, which is a lot faster then searching songs with the windows search engine and you can enque them so they're added to your playlist
