That does suck. Did you at least save the code as a text file?

With my myspace account I save the new CSS code in a notepad doc.

the only stuff on the site was milkdrop stuff right? with the 4.95/mo plan you still get 5GB/mo, i can't imagine how even heavy MD downloads would've broken that.

They just deleted? Not blocked access but deleted all the data? It is time my friend, for you to change service providers. That's the kind of shit I expect from free services like geocities, but when you're paying them money they got no place to just delete your shit.

use these guys, www.westhost.com, that's who we use [say you were referred by www.eos4life.com. They rock, the bottom package is like $7/mo but you get 1GB space and 20GB/mo bandwidth, lots of site maintenance tools and 24/7 over the phone tech support, no downtime either.

oh no, i wasnt paying for it, they have a free plan, so i figured i'd use that to try them out... i just think its fucked up they didnt even send me a warning e-mail or anything, and there "bandwith meter" doesnt even work...

the free package has i think a 2gb/month limit, so i guess i went over that, dont know how far... i had a tracker database that last time i checked had 1200 someodd page loads, think it was only active for a few months, but it doesnt track downloads or pic views, and didnt calculate bandwith ither.... so i have no clue

as for the webhost your sugesting do they support asp.net? 'cause that sounds like a sweet deal, they "support" at somee is.. i sent them an email with a question, they sent me an e-mail with an answer... to some other question?¿?

oh and i have all my source and every thing on my comp, its set up as my test server... guess i could just use my computer to host it... humm... then i'd actualy have to get an internet connection..

i'm pretty sure westhost supports about anything. Just check their website for all that ... http://www.westhost.com

Hey redi_jedi. I cant help you out with the hosting issue, but I just have a request which I hope you can handle.

I use milkdrop on a secondary monitor which forces me to use 1.03. Anything past then including your edits (which allow simply AMAZING presets by the way) doesnt work on a secondary monitor (fullscreen mode atleast)

Is there a way you could fix it?

Your beta edits allow simply incredible presets, I love them. I just wish I could play them on my secondary display which I use to broadcast them during a dorm room party or such.

Thanks!

I have a radeon 9700 pro, mobile. What the problem is selecting the 2ndary display from the dropdown, it doesnt save it. For any of the dropdowns, not just fullscreen.

If I use a window, I can drag it over, but a window is silly and not what I want to use :)

Are you running in desktop or have overlay fake fullscreen checked? I run on a dual display setup with a 9800pro and it works flawlessly 1280x720p "works fine in desktop or overlay also" So have all the previus beta's.

And did you go into the config of MD and in the fullscreen section set it to second display driver "assuming the monitor you wanna run it on is your second"

I dont know if this helps or matters but I run my extended desktop as the primary display I run my setup like that for a number of reasons not really to do with milkdrop persay but other vis and apps I use that either insist on runing on the primary display or run better, But maybe that effects milkdrop, anyway you could try that set your extended desktop as the primary monitor. So that when you go to display properties and hit identify the 1 will appear on the extended desktop where you want to run milkdrop and in the milkdrop config set the fullscreen to the 1. Primary display driver.

Oh and you probly already did this but if ya didnt nows a good time to upgrade your videocard drivers :)

Good Luck :)

I posted this in the troubleshooting forum, but no one seems to be there, hehe. However, since it touches on another desktop drawing issue like the monitor notes above, I think my problem might also be relevant to this discussion. :)

---------------------------------------------------------
One of the things I've liked best about Milkdrop is running it as an animated background wallpaper using its desktop mode. This has worked remarkably flawlessly even "underneath and through" the ClearONE transparent WinAmp skin and transparency utilizing software like WindowsBlinds 5 and Object Dock, etc. I highly recommend this impressive visual display to those of you looking to "show off" to friends and other users.

However, in trying these 1.05 betas (v4 and 5), I've found that the performance drops to a crawl in this mode versus v1.04. So much so that I have had to move back to v1.04.

The windowed mode is fine performance wise and I've changed/toggled all of the config settings related to desktop mode without any affect.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Did something change majorly in the drawing routines between versions 1.04 (final) and v1.05 (betas)?

Is there any way I can change a setting to address this so that I can use the new features/presets of 1.05 but in keeping the performance of v1.04?

For debugging purposes, this is an Athlon 3200 on Windows XP (fully patched), with a Quadro 2000 display card using 81.98 drivers. I have 1 gb of ram on this machine and my desktop is running in 1600x1200, but I've capped the visualization at 20 fps due to testing with v1.04.

Thanks for any assistance anyone can provide.

Yeah the problem is it wont save any monitor display selected, it ALWAYS defaults to the primary, it wont save anything in the dropdowns, be it for window, desktop or fullscreen. This also causes a massive slowdown when the window is dragged to the secondary display.

Thats a wierd bug you got there, Id try re-installing winamp/MD maybe something is messed up in your registry, I did notice a 50% drop in fps "not a crawl but say I was getting 90 fps it would drop to 45fps" in desktop mode or overlay mode also but witch is why I run with fake fullscreen unchecked and I dont run in desktop mode cause it seems to half the fps.

It is logical though that the new version might be asking for alot more of your system especialy with the new features and presets.

i did see your post excalpius, i'm still trying to figure out what the exact cause of this is... i didnt change anything that major in the updates as far as the actual dx calls go, but i did add 5 textures witch takes extra memory, i'm pretty sure that the extra memory is on the graffix card, how much ram is on your card? can you post a link to the specs page or something..

@MechxWarrior - i've seen this problem before, dont rember how it got solved but search the forms from like 2 years ago and you should find something about it. make sure that the second display is on and working when you go to set the option in the config panal. oh and did you say that all the drop downs arent saveing there values? if thats the case post your config.ini please, i wanna check it out... oh and if ya want you might try editing the config.ini manualy.

Thanks redi for looking into this.

This machine has a Quadro FX 2000 which has 128 mb of video ram and is running at AGP 8x. The machine has 1 gb of system RAM and is running an nforce2 series motherboard/chipset.

It is acting as if it has to work really, really hard to redraw, as fps drops from 30 to 5 fps. All presets are affected equally.

Anything change with drawing to buffers etc?

Thanks again.

As this thread points out http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=220440

I was right about the cause of the bug, milkdrop used the device identifier GUID that Direct3D provides. However, this is a bit of a misnomer, as this value is only unique to combinations of chipset and driver, not adaptor instances. So sayeth MSDN: "...is a unique identifier for the driver and chip set pair."

I could find no way of diferentiating unique identical adaptors, so decided to identify them not by GUID, but by the order that they are reported by Windows. This will work fine as long as the order doesn't change. Realistically, this shouldn't happen unless you change the primary monitor or add another video card.

That seems to be why it does not work for me. The fix works, but for 1.04b. Is there a way you could incorporate this into your 1.05 betas? Thanks!

EDIT: Yes, that explains my config.ini situation, I also tried renaming it and having milkdrop generate a new default one and issue remains.
