You gotta love these morons.

First off it's funny because it was pretty clear they were not calling me to collect a debt since there is nothing at all on my credit report. And I just moved six months ago and have an unlisted phone number.

But all of a sudden I've been getting calls on two seperate phone lines from the same stupid company. People who can't even speak proper english. Calling, calling and calling.

So I decided to get even.

Since I have four phone lines and enough computer equipment to make Bill Gates jealous I grabbed some autodialing software and installed in on a few computers. Programmed in their number. And let it go.

And go. And go.

Found something out - when people bug you trying to bill collect over the phone it becomes quite difficult to do when you jam their phone lines up for several hours. In fact they really hate it. Can't get no work done and you can't block the number. And since it's a 1-800 number each time I dial it their phone bill goes up.

And finally they came to a discovery after having their company nearly shut down for four solid hours - they had four names and two of my nymbers. Not a single one of those names was mine.

But their phone bill has gone up considerably. And they obviously didn't get alot of work done today. I asked them why they didn't even take the time to leave a message for the person they were trying to reach. Maybe had they done this one simple thing their bill wouldn't have gone up and their phone lines would not have been jammed.

I believe they may be rethinking that strategy now.

But it is a good lesson - if these people can call repeatedly and bug you then you can repeatedly call and bug them. And when you do it their day is all but ruined. The same goes for telemarketers and those donation beggers as well. And the nicest thing of all - the call is usually free for you but costs them everytime it rings.

Revenge is so sweet. My phone hasn't rang from that number since. Not like they were calling the right person in the first place.

Um wouldn't that mean that they got ur number, name and address, u know they could be charging ur creditcard or bank account...:( I'd be concerned about identity theft. I have had people call me asking for someone and people wanting money and I know its from me signing up for something on the net and so forth.. :)

nowshining, your tinfoil hat will protect you. Hell, you can get my address, phone number, name, whatever from a simple WHOIS on any one of my domain names. Doesn't mean I'm going to go onto my credit card statement and see a thousand dollars worth of bubble gum charged. (Maybe that's because I have $2.00 credit left, who knows.)

I'd imagine megarock's house looks like a nasa control center :D Good job on "returning" some of their calls ;)

No, the exact opposite - the only thing they had right when they called was the telephone number - one I have had for only about eight months. Likely bought it from a creditor that sold it to a collector that sold it to a collector that ....

All the other information they had went to various different people. Not a one of them were me and not a one had the same birth date, ssn, etc., just means sometime over the past seven years they had the same phone number I had.

i have $0.48 on my card left. i'm going to go spend it on penny candy.

anyways, the vast majority of people don't have more than one line anymore, heck, the only reason i even have a phoneline is for my dsl, if it was cheaper/faster/more reliable in my area i'd just have cable and no phone line at all, just use my cellphone.
