View Full Version : Playlist Refresh?

I have a request that would probably help allot of people out but I don't know enough about coding or I would do it myself. I’ve also searched the forum with no luck on my specific issue. I know its mouthful, but this has irked me for a long time, so here it goes:

My play list titles are always set to (Option 1) Read Metadata when files are loaded (I know it takes a while to load longer play lists but I like how all of the metadata for each file goes into the play list so I’m willing to wait) my problem is if I update the id3 tag with this option enabled my play list is not updated.

Now I know some of you would say set it to (Option 2)to Read Metadata when files are played or are viewed (the default and recommended option) but I don't like how when I load a lot of files this option waits until the file is viewed in the play list to load the metadata. I sometimes load play lists from the ml with thousands of songs. So when I put random on the play list windowshade and my favorite plug-in "jump to file" are not updated until I’ve looked at that part of the play list. Also if I try to generate an html play list the titles are not updated. Now keep in mind the actual file names might not be correct but most of my ID tags are.

The only work around I’ve found is to load the play list with Option 1, then if I need to update a tag I switch to Option 2,let it update the pl,and switch back to Option 1. Now everything is up to date.

My request is to have a button on the Pl or maybe a hot key that would do this work around for me. The button could be a type of "Play list Refresh" that could even be set to run every X amount of minutes, seconds, or only when pushed. Making sure everything in my Pl is as up to date a possible.

I run a local LAN with winamp control to all the computers through a web browser and it refreshes every 5 seconds with the play list info so having the titles correct is crucial.

I know this is a lot to ask for and as I said before I’m not a programmer but I love winamp and love the community. So if someone could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!

Thanks in advance
Rob
