LuXoR Amp...

It's my first skin I ever made- And I spent
whole nights making sure everything was
perfect.

They gave it 4 stars, which is
OK its... better than 2 lol thats what some of you have been getting. Bad luck- Some times I think the skin reviewers coffee has been replaced with Folgers Crystals.

Anyway, in the review It said Add relief.
How is this possible? There is no room! I
need advice on how to do this from fellow
artists like yourselves...

Add relief,?

Hmmm curious, how could you possiably add relief to what is essentialy a flat art form in the first place? , surely the whole point of what you have done here is to emulate the style and subject of the Egyptians, wasnt this all flat ???

I'm not sure that the ancient Egyptians had 3D rendering software to hand when they were painting the walls.....

Back to the easy life :)

ignore CO's comments. Move on.

Relief ... no way ... it'd severely hurt the concept of the skin. I think most everyone has come to expect 3D in winamp skins anymore ... pavlovian, isn't it?

LuXor Amp is sweet as is. Consider skinning the cursors. That would be my only suggestion. In my opinion, this is the only thing holding this skin back from 5dom. As it is, it's a solid 4.999999999. :) Hmmm ... and is there any reason ya didn't skin the AVS? It'd be easy to finish off; do a plain background and pop a couple of hieroglyphs in the upper right and left. This would also complete the totality of the skin nicely.

Oh, and jdf is the reviewer, amp ... not CO. Unless CO decided to change his/her initials. ;)

Hehe, I just instinctively shoved the blame towards CO without even considering the fact that he might not have reviewed the particular skin :D:D:D What can I say, I'm a creature of habbit :)

Xerxers, I would suggest that when you submit a skin, and you have the feeling that reviewers will hold the fact that your skin isn't a typical metallic 3D skin against you...you should put something in the author's comments along the lines of "the reason that I did not do 3D effects on this skin is...etc". That way you can prevent the reviewer from criticising the fact that the skin is 'out of the ordinary'...just my .02$

This is a very nice skin!

The only thing I can point out as a "imperfection" (but then again I don't know if you did that on purpose) is the Repeat button in the Main window.
While the Shuffle, EQ, PL, On, Auto & Presets buttons shows hieroglyphs while being pressed, the Repeat shows nothing.
And while changing the Repeat from Off to On it shows one yellow pixel on the right.
I don't know if this was your intention, but I think there shold be hieroglyphs "behind" the Repeat button.
Apart from that, I think this skin is very nice looking, detailed, and original.
Is this really your first skin?
Good work!

I posted a link to this page from general discussions-

this post was actually my first post ever... all the way in May of last year ;)

Its hilarious to finally get a response a year from the date I posted it; better late than never I guess ;)

Well... um... uh...... in response... ;)

I am glad you people realize Egyptian Art is essentially
2D- the only time the egyptians ever "beveled" anything was
in their furniture. Egyptians did stuff in "Wall painting" format, which I tried to capture in this skin.

The reason why I never skinned the AVS is... well because
I didn't know you could skin the AVS back when I did this.
(In ... march 2000 Ithink- when i just started skinning)

I suppose I should do a re-release of the skin... clean it
up a little bit. Fix the little things I erred on... do the
AVS and the Mikroamp, and of course the cursors. :) Sounds
like an excellent spring project; i'm glad y'all finally
decided to respond :)

...hmmm... maybe an ankh symbol cursor... :)
