try filter > render > lens flare...

make sure you're in RGB mode.

That effect was done by using the airbrush and the smudge tool.

To be honest: crap.

Doesn't PS have an automatic filter like this?

(Gimp's sparkle (or whatever it's called in English) filter, all values at default)

7.0, I ask? What's the newest one? I thought it was CS2.

Yeah, it is. There's some added features in CS2 which most people wouldn't really use though, so 7.0 is good enough.

Gaek: Yeah, it does. But looking at that, Gimp is much better at doing sparkle effects.

I made that with filter > render > lens flare... like I suggested above, it took about 10 seconds

much better, you may want to creat those things on a seperate layer than the main image and rotate some of them because they do all start to look the same. Also don't over do it, because it will start to look unnatural.

Alright...i figure one or two or whatever she wants is fine...it'll look good..and i'll rotate a few, etc..thanks everyone :)

I doubt I'd wear it unless I had some black, polyester, sequined bell-bottom pants.

I'm sure he's been known to play the occasional game of 'Ride 'em cowboy!!' in his time....

find the shape tool, load all the shapes, locate the star shape, make the shape in what size you want, select layer transparency, make new layer, make the feather of prefered choice of how the shine will fade, fill it with gradient or fill tool, delete the layer with the star shape, and voila, you got yourself a shine effect.
