What programs do y'all use??

I use MS paint and PSP for my skins like most other skinners out there

Although some of them use Adobe Photoshop

but i prefur the more basic MS paint

it can also be useful for your first couple of skins to us a skinner such as skinmaster or quickskin to split the bitmaps up for u until u actually learn which go where

Either unzip one to see how it works (DL the base skin from the winamp site) or get something like Quickskin. that lil proggie will build you a functional skin that you can then fuck around with until yer happy with it.
Bunch of snobs will tell you that you NEEEED photoshop but ya don't.
Anyway, just make skins and yer get better as time goes by.

Rikki is right.
Well most people who skin use Adobe Photoshop 5.5.
Well I use PSP6. The advantage of this over Photoshop is that it is easier to use.
But to get really cool effects to you skin
you better download some cool plugins (a.k.a filters) to use with you image editing software
