ok so I am comiling all my posts (I am the only one who replied to my messages though I live on the net so 1 day is a week to me http://forums.winamp.com/ubb/smile.gif into one post here.

Ok,
I have read the tutorial, most of the forums and all the FAQ's I could find. (it was a lot lemme tell you) I have attempted to create a skin by starting simply and modifying, not the shapes, but the content of Main.bmp and cbutton.bmp. Flattened the layers and saved with the proper extension. I zipped up only the pertinant files (I got the base skin from the winamp site) and altered the zip archive to have the .wsz extension, placed it in the skins folder and tried it out. Upon doing so I get the following error
"Winamp has caused an error in <unknown>.
Winamp will now close.
If you continue to experience problems,
try restarting your computer."

I am using an athlon 750 with 256mb ram on windows ME. This looks like a great deal of fun and I'd would appreciate any help I could get.

as an additional note.
winamp the obviusly closes.
i restart winamp and attempt to play a file and I get the "MMSYSTEM020" error which I remember seeing _somewhere in here so I wil look for that. Any ideas would still help.
thanks.

ok so I searched and actually cannot find that system error in the forum. foud a couple different ones but they did not help. Any ideas would be great.

ok so I tried simply zipping up the base skin without changes and it works. so something i photoshop causes changes somehow? I checked the properties of the files nd compared them to a functioning skin and can find no differences.

Ok soI went back and compared archives. Copying the other sins I converted my files to 8pit paletized RLE compressed BMP's. no luck. I wonder however, why the skins I dl have an image size of 0 DPI.
Still looking for any help.
