Hey everyone. I'm new here, only registered due to a symptom which I believe is a bug. It could also be some misconfiguration, but I don't think so, I used the same options.
I installed winamp 5.21 recently, and when I open an ogg file or add it to my playlist, it displays it with full path and extension eg.
c:\music\dj xy - trance.ogg
instead of dj xy - trance like with mp3s.
I don't use tags. The strange thing is that this problem didn't exist in winamp 5.1. Now I had to return to w5.1 coz this problem is pretty annoying.
Any ideas?
EDIT: I forgot to mention that when and ogg item is played, it doesn't have any title, only the ordinal number appears.

What's your Advanced Title Formatting string set to in Prefs > Titles?
Was it even enabled?
$filepart(%filename%)

nope coz it hides the part of the trackname between two dashes by default. for example:
Jeff Wayne - War of the Worlds - Part 01
would be
Jeff Wayne - Part 01
EDIT: I've just checked it, now it doesn't work this way, but the point is that I don't use Advanced Title Formatting :-)

Well, the point is... that in 5.2x you HAVE to use ATF, because that's now the only way to get any title formatting. Individual plugin title formatting has been removed in favor of global title formatting.
If you don't use any Title Formatting, then the default behaviour is to display "artist - title", and if there's no artist or title tags, then Winamp will attempt to guess them, based on these settings:
Winamp > Prefs > Media Library:
Library Options tab > Modify Settings button:
Use library title info for playlist title formatting
Watch Folders tab > Configure button:
Detection logic: smart / simple (select: "no guessing" to disable)

Ok I see that this is the only way BUT why do mp3 tracks appear correctly then? They neither have tags.
file: dj xy - trance.mp3 => dj xy - trance
file: dj xy - trance.ogg => c:\music\dj xy - trance.ogg
What's the reason for this? NONE of my tracks have tags.
Doh, and I neither have media library installed.
As I've already mentioned, these work perfectly in w5.1.

Yeah, probably a bug, or maybe ogg is just defaulting to %filename% instead of $filepart(%filename%). I'll copy this thread over to the internal bugtracker.
For now, if all your files are tagless and you want to only see the filename in the playlist, then use $filepart(%filename%) for ATF.

I forgot to mention that there's a similar flaw when playing wma's and wav's. flac doesn't seem to be affected (with the official flac frontend's flac plugin).
