My sob story of the day. I sure wish the update submitted skin feature worked. I had a 3 star skin, and the reviewer made some suggestions, so I followed them (ie, replacing skinner.exe buttons with my own add avs, custom cursors), tried to update, no go. So, I deleted the old one and resubmitted with a list of changes, and it came back as a two star, with a one word review (and no mention of who reviewed it). Oh well. I just feel put-upon. Shoulda left the skinner crap. That or copied some famous skin, then i coulda had 5 stars.. http://forums.winamp.com/ubb/frown.gif

Colors are nice and soothing
The Equalizer bars are in neat positions
There is effort taken beyond just plopping
the picture in there.

Negative:
A bit too skinner.exe looking=)

I like Anime, I have seen many of the
majot works i.e. Ghost in the Shell,
Princess Mononoke, Akira, etc etc.
I do not consider myself a connosieur by
any means- but if the skin is designed well,
Good design philosophy will always shine through.

In your case, this is one of the minority
of the Anime skins where you can VERY clearly
see the entire character's face- and isn't
that the point of it? I'd give it a 3.2 / 5

Maybe you should go wild with your equalizers
and position the pic just right so the

Can I ask (trying not to sound like an asshole) what the Add, Remove, Misc etc drop-up menus on the PL supposed to resemble? I'm sorry, but on 1024x769, 16-bit on a 14" monitor, I don't get it.

Believe me, I know that when you're trying to incorporate a large, detailed graphic into your Main/EX background, the cbuttons (not mispelled) do get in the way a lot, but you still have to be able to use them.

That's all I've got to say about your skin, mostly because I believe that skinners should only be criticised by themselves, because only the skinner know what he/she was aiming at achieving with their skin.

While the two skins are very different, they both have the functionality problem to contend with, due to the main graphic.

I, after failing miserably to make a one-pic skin, attempted to make a skin which used three different images for each component window. Before you ask, ths was way back when I was of the opinion "Minibrowser? WTF is that? Pfft, bugger it" so to me there were only three windows to skin.

The resultant skin evidently sucked ass, but I think that if I had the skills back then, it could have come out a lot better.

I'm tired. It's 1:59am and I have the distinct feeling taht I'm rambling. I'm gonna go sleep now. I hope I haven't embarrassed myself with this post.

ok so its ugly. its a string of DNA I captured from the opening song of the anime, and when u click the buttons, up top it magnifies the portion in the white square. gay and all, but skinner buttons looked worse. and those darn cbuttons, yeah, tried to keep em from wrecking the pic, and still be visible. Bottom line: I know where they are.. but not everyone might. oh well.

good point, I acheived my goal, and use my skin all the time. Screw the reviewers, since when did anyone agree with them anyway. Late, rambling. Anyway, thanks for your thoughts, next time will be different.

Hey MamiyaOtaru, I really don't think you skin is bad at all. I'm into anime so I like most anime skins, but I like afew different parts of yours. The way the main and the EQ are seperated in the background, while the pic runs from on to the other (Idid that in my skin), and the simple neatness to it. On the down side the buttons and controls are quite hard to distinguish (did I spell that right?) from the background, but then again as Xerxes said the whole point of anime skins is to check out your favourite characters. If you were doing another type of skin, say a 3D on or something, you would need to concentrate more on the buttons, but I'm sure you know that http://forums.winamp.com/ubb/smile.gif

Helpful and well thought out, all of you-even mack: that probably was a deep thought for you.
Yeah, the buttons suck. It's what seperates the good from the bad: if I was good I could make a skin with a clear pic and buttons that are still visible. Anyone figured it out? (other than using a smaller pic that can fit between them)

Most of the top skins I've seen with pics of people on them sacrifice some functionality to the picture... One of the best I've seen are the NatAmp skins, but even these ones have lost the vol and bal sliders.
