is it common practice for submitted skins to be re-evaluated?? my skin received 5 stars on the 18th, and I was very proud; but I re-checked today, and now it only has 3 and says it was published on the 21st.
I am quite steamed. what is the point of this?

Can you post the URL your skin is at so I can check it out and DL it if I like it? I think happy users are the best rating a skin will get. My latest "two star" effort (Yes, everything is skinned on it.) has been recieved enthusiatically by everyone I have sent it to, with the exception of a certain person who unfortunately had the power to relegate it to an area of the site that few people ever visit. i have to admit althought im not into anime skins, you're skin is quite nice. I agree that if the 'reviewers' (as they like to be called) decide that a skin deserves a 5, they should keep it a 5 (unless its greenpeas or something)

No, no they should not. Some of these fucking reviewers can't rate skins worth shit. And when the few good people at winamp.com see these atrocities--once and a while--they fix them. And I commend them(Thanks again, Steve!).

Now are you trying to say, Chaquita, that if some fucking dumb reviewer rates a skin with a horrible amount of inconsistency compared the rest of the site, it should be left alone?!?!?! HELL FUCKIN NO IT SHOULDN'T. That makes no sense at all. I'm glad some of the major faults get fixed...it's just too bad that the majority of them won't.

As for your skin, here's my review:

This is a pretty good skin. The image-editing was done really well. The overall look of the skin is good. But, there are two major flaws in this skin. One: those equalizer bars. Those are just the base-skin eq bars just with different colors added...and maybe a little editing on the buttons. Those eq bars alone make the skin that much worse. Also, there are way too many Winamp Skinner feautres left on this skin. The overall composition of the skin just screams "I was made by Winamp Skinner!." Try working on the orignality factor.

ah, well, zeruel, you have a very good point. skins that are reviewed by reviewers who, well, don't know what they are doing, SHOULD be re-evaluated. BUT the reviewer's comments should reflect this enlightenment and be replaced as well; the star rating should not change alone.
as for your review of my skin -- it is a bit harsh, considering i didn't use skinner, but now i can see the resemblance and understand. and i would understand the change from 5 to 3 stars if the actual reviewer had made similar comments.

I agree. The comments should change as well. My review though, is it harsh? Nah. It's just blunt. Which at times can seem harsh.

That is so annoying when they do that i had a 007 skin and it recieved four stars but when i updated it it had 2 whats that all about? all i did was change the preset botton.

yeah but look at bwentinksskin and you will see thatn he just got a few bmps ran skinner.exe and turned it into a skin. So, pukeboy... Since when does skinner.exe produce flaming C's and horses that snort flames??? Since when does skinner.exe make red and gold title bars and put things like "Song Roster" on a PL? Since when does skinner.exe make minimize, close and windowshade buttons in the Flames' colours? Since when does skinner.exe do the MB and the AVS?? (You apparently didn't do yours on your skin...) You really should take a closer look at things before you start throwing accusations around, you just make an ass out of yourself this way.

I don't mind actually. The entire skins section of this site is such a mess. Cleanup is a good thing.

Being my only skin though, (and the only skin I'll ever do, I hate skinning), it did make my heart sink just a little when it was canned.

Well, I am a huge fan of that skin. I don't use it myself, but I respect you for making it. The functionability of the skin is just awesome. And the skin itself is just so original in features. Looking at the skin from "Saka Ogawa" it
seems that they ripped the EQ bars from
Lime. (Which is just too chic! Awesome skin BTW) Those bars just dont have the same
effect they do on that skin then they do
on "lime".

No I don't go by Saga Okawa at all. In fact, I hadn't seen that skin until you pointed it out. That guy really did rip my eq bars! He he, neat!

I think I might have a little talk with him about that though. Even though I do like Card Captor Sakura quite a bit . . .

At any rate, I'm glad you guys like it. After spending about 10 hours on it, I realized that I REALLY hated winamp skinning, but I decided I wanted to make it the best it could be anyways.

I wonder how many anime skinners make their own art for their skins? The only thing I didn't draw for my skin was Lime herself, and it was a royal pain in the butt doing it with my mouse. Since that time, I've gotten a tablet. But even so, getting that mechanism in the eq panel to be at the right rotation to handle the waveform analysis, on and auto buttons, and still be centered on that leftmost bar was . . . tedious.

Even so, that guy did quite a bit of work on that skin . . . pretty cute stuff.

I love Manga, although I don't know anything about Saber Marionette. You skin totally enspired me to do my own. Back to the topic, but is it my imagination that the reviewers are being a lot meaner than they used to be when rating skins... then again there are some really basic skins that have 5 stars. Whats that all about? I would rather wait for months to have my skin reviewed and have it done properly than have it rushed and have them write whatever comes into their heads.
