View Full Version : My GRAND FINALE 2.x Skin

Xerxes
14th October 2000, 19:59
Recently on the skin board,
we were discussing what is art? What is not
art? What classifies an object as art?

In the 1920's, an art "rebellion" movement know as Dada brought up these questions to
a stuffy art world ruled by critics whose
decisions made or broke artists.

So in my final skin for 2.x, i decided to
skin "Dada" - with an emphasis on questionable yet usable functionality.
The skin is in the format of a 1920's
photo collage, a method pioneered by
Hannah Hoch, one of the great yet obscure woman artists of all time.

I truly hope you enjoy it as much as I
enjoyed creating it!

I even skinned Mikroamp! http://forums.winamp.com/ubb/smile.gif

Download "Dada" http://www.xerxes.f2s.com/DadaAmp.zip

Please give me your comments - i'm gonna
enter this into the contest!

<O> Dada will double your income. <O>

PS Not only is there the traditional easter
egg, there is also a second. I have actually
put MYSELF into the skin if you can find it!

I forgot put in the Mikroamp skin - here
it is -

Woohoo! Great taste, Xerxes! So, was it my recommendation of the former that got it into your playlist? Also, which versions of each of those are those?

Heh, I think this is my first post in the Skin Love forum. Hmm, now how'll I remember to check for replies to this?

I must say, that looks a little abstract. I'm not much into art. But I'll go ahead and grab the skin to observe it in greater deatail.
Oh, in your skin, you're the one with the long hair, mustache and goatie right? http://forums.winamp.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Be nice to me here, but...

what does "leet" mean???

leet ... it's "hacker" slang for Elite. For
some reason hackers just love the adjective
"Elite". Maybe because they can easily spell
it with numbers and bizarre ascii characters.
Hackers.... they think their SO cool...
Bloody anarchists i say.

WOW! What an interesting concept! I love your skins Xerxes! You are determined to get culture in my life http://forums.winamp.com/ubb/biggrin.gif. I love your cbuttons! And I love the overall look of the skin.....a bit busy, but since that's the
main idea behind a collage.... http://forums.winamp.com/ubb/wink.gif. The cursors are a bit hard to see, but if you added any color to make them stand out more, it would go against the "theme" of the skin. Ok....you said you were in it
someplace......are you by chance on the EQ sliders...at the -4.1db setting? I have looked and looked...... http://forums.winamp.com/ubb/smile.gif
Great Skin!

SUBMIT!

Xerxes

Actually I was going to do a "Dali" skin with wicked transparancys but did this instead.. alhtough an impressionist would
be interesting.... hmmm ....

I'm not trying to ram culture down anyones
throat... rather the idea is to expose it to y'all in an innovative way http://forums.winamp.com/ubb/wink.gif

Welcome!.... to the world of illusion! http://forums.winamp.com/ubb/smile.gif

It is an amalgam of many images - photo
editing is my favorite hobby http://forums.winamp.com/ubb/wink.gif

Here is all the parts - i draw from a
very large library of clips i have accumulated over time. I specialize in
older images http://forums.winamp.com/ubb/wink.gif - this one didn't need
to be super perfect though because i was
resizing it so small in the end that i
didnt have to be ultra detailed. I am glad
nobody sees it and thinkis it's me -
mission accomplished as it were.

Actually that's what i do for $Money$- albiet not as fun- I work as a small time photo editor for small modeling management companies- so most of the time i'm editing out wrinkles
and acne and what-not - never anything as fun as my above work http://forums.winamp.com/ubb/wink.gif http://forums.winamp.com/ubb/frown.gif

I just kind of fell into doing it... I like
the idea of changing reality and all that.

Winsane - OK We can NOW steer this thread off topic - I am a HUGE fan of video game
music. THe music from castlevania is of
course reknown - when you suggested that
song I found a neat MP3 of it and it was
great! The one I like best for some odd
reason is the one that uses the ACTUAL
sound of the gameboy - I haven't found one
of the "arranged" versions that convey the
music or feeling right. As far as vega goes-
(Always my favorite character in SF) I was
looking at my friends mp3s and saw that
vega one- I was surprised to hear it is
REAL music- they are really playing Castanets
and there are flamenco dancers stomping.
It's really cool. I could TALK ALL DAY about
video game music.... i didn't respond because
I didn't think you were gonna check again.
But you proved me wrong http://forums.winamp.com/ubb/wink.gif

Because i'm tired right now. But I will post it tommorrow for sure On this thread. http://forums.winamp.com/ubb/smile.gif
