Everyone who is a fan of Pokemon might have been waiting for these skins for awhile. I do apologise for the delay WinAmp has made, but it is bad timing on my part because of season change and so close to WinAmp 3.0...

These skins are for rating. Please use the star method WinAmp uses. Also, if you are not a fan of Pokemon and you feel that you have nothing but negative things to say, don't make a topic addition. I have worked very hard and long on these skins and saying bad things on the topic itself will hurt.

Ok, I'll entertain this since I didn't weigh in earlier having not discovered these message boards back in September. Take the following comments for what they're worth. I'm a newbie skinner, and ... eh hem http://forums.winamp.com/ubb/redface.gif ... a *closet* Pokémon Master.

I *really* like the pokéballs you've used for buttons in the EQ. I personally would like to see a bit more skinning style in the EQ Bands tho. This is just a thot, but why not make the balls look like they are being thrown by replacing the faded white to black to red bars with a swoosh like chaser thing-a-ma-bob.

In the Main window, I like how you've faded the text "Evolutions Of" behind the bold "Meowth". It's a nice touch. I also love how Meowth is peeking out over the Time/Vis box. The background has been criticized for being too busy, but I tend to disagree. Again, (ashamed to admit it) having been a loyal viewer to the first episodes of Pokémon, I know that this blurry background is kinda the style of the toon. What I don't like in the Main window is the lack of originality in all of your play buttons. I'm guessing you used some kinda skinning program to aid you in the design of this skin. Unfortunately these programs don't make kewl buttons. My suggestion is to somehow incorporate Pokéballs into these buttons as you have in the EQ.

In the Playlist, I like the images of Meowth and Persian in the title bar. Again though, as I mentioned for the Main window ... you need some original buttons here as well. The skin just kinda falls flat when you put so much detail into the background and give us so little in the button dept.

The MiniBrowser looks almost unskinned in comparison to the rest of your work. I think you should incorporate the background here as you have in the Playlist with a few twists. The MB area really isn't THAT big of a deal tho. I don't know how many people actually use it anyway. BUT if ya wanna get a 5 Star ya gotta make it look good too.

I hope this helps and isn't too critical. Overall, I think the skin looks very nice. I guess I'd just like some more originality before I stamp it with a seal of approval ... not that you asked for one.

Here's my review:
(probably similar to others, but I'm too lazy to read them all)

The overall layout is way to similar to skinner-made skins. That whole 'black, rounded box' look is what I'm talkin about. Completely unoriginal. As well as those simple, unoriginal cbuttons. The posbar, volbar, and balance bar ALL don't match the skin...at all. They're actually quite difficult to see. Those eqs are nice, I guess. But the actual eq bars are also WAY too similar to the base skin, and skinner-skins. The playlist is alright, though the stretch-triangle at the bottom right corner looks EXACTLY like something made from skinner. Which leads me to believe that you originaly made this skin with skinner, and the just edited it. Maybe not. The close-minimize buttons are also unoriginal. And I haven't even mentioned that mini-browser. What's the deal with that? It doesn't match the skin for one second! Is the AVS like that too? Ugh!

The image-placement, and image-editing are both nice. I'll give you that. But the actaul skinning isn't too good at all. I really can't believe you were expecting 5 stars. 5 stars should be saved for the elite skins. The best of the best. That way, people can actually find quality skins by looking through a small amount of skins. The best skins. And those skins, my friend, are no where NEAR the 'best'.

I think there are a lot of ... lost opportunities with this skin - for instance -the EQ bars could have been used to show different slides of Pokemon... the ball thing could have been used more effectively
as a a larger button... i am thinking.

At the same time - i will dispense the advice
I have have been giving to others recently-
wait for winamp 3, because you are trying to
show so much activity (Evolution processes)
in such a limited space. I think winamp 3's
freeform skinning would accomodate what you
are trying to communicate better. As you
show some promise... I wouldn't give this
up yet...

i remember the first time this here little buckeroo posted this skin. its a great idea but needs more work...like EVERYONE said...you need new buttons everywhere...be creative...minibrowser...lets not get into it...just spend some time working out the bugs

Well I won't give you a rap. I know you worked hard on it. Even though you used a skinner to help. But you didn't try to hide it. Some things are hard to to and It doesn't help being critisised. I make skins for my own pleasure. I want to share it with others. If they don't like it. They can either change it till they like it or not use it at all!

pokemon skins are good, if you like pokemon but, if you have had enough of pokemon than pokemon skins really suck. i'm sure someone has already expressed this. i think this skin needs lots and lots of work, try restructuring the layout.

This was directed towards the Pokemon bashers. There are some freaks out there that have bad things to say about these little critters that I don't think should be said.

No, I want to hear from everyone. The many fans of this skin (which previous releases saw) have been waiting for this version to be finished. I added many new features and I have gotten very kind remarks from the fans. I honestly don't mind if non-fans make comments, that was my original intent; an unbiased opinion.

Wouldn't you? Yes, I was upset. But I took the constructive critisizm. Which I am doing now. There are many improvements on the skin, and there will be more. That is why I posted it.

So? I am still a big fan of Garfield and Friends. That cartoon hasn't been made since '93. If I like it, I will watch it. If I thought paint drying was fun, I would too.

Let me go into detail about the 'Evolutions Of' series:

Everything is initially done on Skinner. But not the way you would think. Everything in the templates is redone and remade by me. This saves time and is not much to do. Basically I am saving time on layering! I basically make the background pictures, then import them into skinner where I have some of the shading premade. It is a very intelligent setup.

The Evolution of this Skin has been a long one but many additions have been done. Now since most of the technique is done, buttons can be totally revamped as well as the AV and MB aspects. There is not much skin there to skin too, so I will have to maybe work on a way to make it look kickass.

Button skinning sucks! The pokeballs were perfect because I could work around everything, but making buttons look awesome in the other windows is a wee bit harder. I made these buttons myself (because skinner buttons suck) and I also changed some of the skinner buttons around for my own sick and dimented ways. I am pretty strapped on ideas for buttons themselves... I might think of something though for v5.

The Future of Evolutions Of might be bleak if no one is willing to support and help me with ideas, suggestions or even graphical work. I have Adobe here, so I am not strapped for graphical work but if anyone who wants to add comments, please do so. If you think you can help with graphical work, please feel free to e-mail me.

My main goal is to make everyone happy and make a 5-star skin. I hope to see 5 stars too, because I believe it will show my skins are worth something... That and I still think the collection is the best Pokemon skin collection out there!

I hesitate to get involved, but Chris, I think you'd be better received by the people in these forums if you came off a bit more humble. Your typed tone is way too condescending and "in your face" ... even when you are being nice. I like the Pokémon skins to a certain extent and can't wait to see updates with those new buttons you've mentioned. Just understand that nothing is a bigger turn off to people than coming in ranting about all of your achievements. If you do good work, we'll notice. You don't need to sell yourself here.
