I'm using NSV to stream Video and Audio.
For the most part its working fine for windows users, but Mac users are having big problems.

It seems that the VP3 codec is PPC only for the Mac and that leads to really choppy/scratchy streams.

What I'm wondering, is there any way to use another (perhaps free) codec? Maybe one thats a little better known? XviD or WMV?

VP3 is free. VP6, I think is sort of abandonware with ON2.

VP3 is really out of date, it hasn't seen any development since 2002 and because of that its PPC only which is no good for Intel based Mac users.

I found this thread about using H264, but the current setup is Alpha stage, and it looks like development has stopped.

I've seen more and more VP6.x for video and AACPlus for audio in NSV lately.
